RUGOSA

This group of roses are native to Japan and western Asia. The main identifying feature is the incredible health of their deeply indented dark green foliage. Large decorative seed pods (hips) follow the large five petalled flowers, which are strongly fragrant. Some hybrids are also in this section with a good number developed in Canada, mainly noted for their ability to stand extreme cold. Very useful plants for easy care hedges, their many thorns are an efficient deterrent.
