A famous climber with exquisitely formed large single white blooms produced in huge masses in early spring. Spectacular flowering the blooms are borne against a backdrop of dense glossy green foliage on an almost evergreen climber. The healthy foliage is decorative even when not in flower on this vigorous dense climber.

An original species rose from Asia and introduced in 1759, is also known as Rosa sinica alba, White Macartney, and the Cherokee Rose.
